Understanding your Solar Settings

When a solar diverter is detected, your cylinder will automatically apply default solar settings. Find out more about what these settings mean.

If your home has solar panels, your Mixergy cylinder can use any spare solar energy to heat your water.

If your system includes a solar diverter (this is automatically detected in Solar X cylinders), the app will set everything up for you. These default settings work well for most homes. You don’t need to change anything unless you’ve been advised to or have specific technical knowledge.

You can find these settings in the Tank Settings section of the Mixergy App listed under PV Diverter Settings.

Use Spare PV to Heat Tank: Turn this on to enable the solar settings. You can turn this on or off at any time.

You can also set a schedule to restrict when this can be used. If no schedule is set, there are no restrictions on using spare solar energy when available.

PV Chart Limit: This is the amount of water that can be heated through your solar PV.

  • Default: 100% of the tank. This means if spare PV is available, it can be used to heat the whole tank.
  • This helps spread your solar energy between water heating and powering your home.

PV Diverter Target temperature: This is the water temperature you can reach with solar power.

  • Normally 60°C to get the most out of your solar gain.
  • If it’s turned off, it’ll just match your usual water temperature target.

Display Solar Power in Insights: Turn this on if you’d like to see how much solar power is being used in your app’s graphs.
