Heat Geek Mode

An advanced setting that aims to maximise energy savings and reduce environmental impact when using a Heat Pump.

This mode is only available when Heat Pump is the selected heat source.

How does it work?

  • Lowers cylinder temperature to sub-50°C for improved efficiency.
  • Adjusts minimum temperature for cylinder reheating to minimise unnecessary heating cycles.
  • Takes advantage of machine learning algorithms that adapt to the Heat Geek settings and optimise energy usage based on variable time-of-use tariffs

Enabling and Disabling Cleansing

Cleansing is a Mixergy initiative to prevent legionella growth in their hot water cylinder. This setting is always on in standard settings. When activating Heat Geek Mode, the automatic cleansing feature can be disabled.

Caution: If Cleansing is deactivated, users take personal responsibility for preventing legionella developing in their cylinder.  Mixergy takes no responsibility for legionella growth resulting from a user disabling the cleansing option when in Heat Geek Mode.

Minimum Output Temperature: This setting changes the lower temperature limit for the cylinder’s state of charge algorithm. The default value is 43°C, but it can be set between 15°C to 50°C. Adjusting this setting can help to:

  • Charge the cylinder to a lower temperature in heat pump mode.
  • Deliver hot water at a lower temperature.
  • Maximise the storage capacity and reduce cycling frequency.

However, setting this value too close to the target temperature can cause the state of charge to deplete faster due to heat loss.
