Connect your tank to the internet
This guide will help you get your Mixergy tank online quickly using a TP-Link adapter or an Ethernet connection.
TP-Link Adapter
What you’ll need
- Your Mixergy tank
- A TP-Link adapter (powerline plug)
- Your home internet router
- An Ethernet cable (usually provided)
Step 1: Connect the TP-Link to your router

- Plug the TP-Link adapter into a wall socket near your router. Do not user a USB socket or an extension lead as they can stop it working properly
- Connect the Ethernet cable from your router to the TP-Link
This creates the internet connection your tank will use.
Step 2: Power up your Mixergy tank
- Make sure your tank is switched on at the wall
- Give it a moment to fully power up
Your tank is now ready to connect.
Step 3: Pair the TP-Link with your tank
This links your tank to your home network.
- Press the Pair button on the TP-Link adapter (2)
- Within 2 minutes, press the Pair button on the tank controller (1). This is inside the controller box (you may need a pen or small tool)
- Hold each button for about 1–2 seconds
Once paired, the system will automatically establish a connection.

Step 4: Check the connection lights
Look at the lights on the TP-Link plug:
- Top light (Power): shows the adapter is on
- Bottom light (Router): shows connection to your router
- Middle light (Tank): shows connection to your tank
When all three are on (typically green), your setup is complete.
Step 5: Let the system settle
- Wait a minute or two for everything to fully connect and your tank should appear in the Mixergy App.
Ethernet Connection
If a hardwired ethernet connection is required, we recommend that you speak to an installer or your housing manager as it requires directly accessing the controller.
What a hardwired setup looks like
In a hardwired setup:
- An Ethernet cable runs directly from the tank to a router, switch, or wall plate
- No powerline adapters are used
- The tank connects automatically once the network is live
If the Ethernet connection is working, the Wi-Fi light on the tank will turn blue.
Setup
- Check that an Ethernet cable runs from your router’s LAN port directly to the Mixergy tank
- If the cable is in place but the tank is still offline, the internal connection inside the tank may not be properly set up
Please contact your installer to check the internal wiring in the tank controller.
