Cleansing cycles

Cleansing is a process that helps protect against legionella bacteria.

Your Mixergy cylinder automatically runs cleansing cycles to help protect against legionella bacteria. This is done by fully heating the tank so that even the coldest part—the bottom—reaches a pasteurising temperature. By default, the system ensures this happens at least once every two weeks.

You can customise the schedule if the defaults don’t suit your routine. Using the top right hand menu, got to 'Tank Settings' and scroll down to 'Cleansing'. 

  • Cleansing Temperature: The recommended range depends on the model. We suggest the following:
    • Mixergy X / Solar X: 51°C - 60°C
    • iHP X: 51°C - 55°C
  • Cleansing Start: Set time to start cleanse.
  • Cleansing Days: Set day/s to cleanse.

If you usually enjoy a deep bath on Sunday evening, you could set your cleansing cycle for Sunday morning. That way, your tank is pasteurised and you’ll have plenty of hot water ready for your bath.
