Transfer ownership of a Mixergy account
Move a tank onto a new app account when you take over a home.
Transferring ownership allows a new homeowner or resident to connect the tank to their own Mixergy app account. It removes the previous account’s access, so first check who owns or manages the tank. If you rent your home, ask your landlord or housing provider before you begin.
CHECK WHO MANAGES THE ACCOUNT FIRST
If you rent, live in managed housing or have been given app access by a housing provider, contact them before resetting ownership. A reset can remove their existing account connection.
Before you transfer ownership
- Confirm that the previous occupier or owner no longer needs access.
- Check whether the landlord or housing provider manages the tank.
- Make sure the tank is switched on.
- Have the new account email address ready.
- Check that the tank is connected to the internet if the new user wants app access.
Remove the existing account
1. Find the Mixergy Gauge
The gauge is the slim black control panel attached to the white controller box on the tank.
2. Press the two buttons together
Press and hold the down arrow and power button at the same time for about 15 seconds.
3. Wait for the reset
Keep holding both buttons for approximately 15 seconds, then release them. This removes the tank from the existing account so it can be added to a new one.
This will not stop the tank heating water. You can still control it using the gauge.
Add the tank to the new account
Open the Mixergy app and sign in or select Create Account.
If you create a new account, Mixergy will send you a verification email. Open the email and select the confirmation link. Then return to the Mixergy app and sign in to continue.
Select Add Tank and follow the instructions on screen. The app will ask you to confirm details including the tank’s address, time zone, heating type and internet connection.
You will need to scan the QR code on the controller label or enter the code printed beside it. The code you need depends on which controller version you have.
See Find your Mixergy code and controller version for help finding the label and choosing the correct code.
Do not enter the six-digit code beginning MX. This is the tank’s serial number and cannot be used to add the tank to the app. The serial number is used to identify the tank’s warranty.
Start using the Mixergy app
Once the tank appears in the new account, the ownership transfer is complete.
See Quick Start Guide for help finishing the setup and using the Mixergy app.
What if the transfer does not work?
Check that the tank is online and that the correct device code is being used. If the app says the tank is already registered, contact the previous account holder, housing provider or Mixergy support rather than repeating the reset.
IMPORTANT
The tank needs power for hot water, internet connection and app setup. Do not switch it off at the mains as part of the transfer.
Common questions
Will the previous account holder still have access?
No. Resetting the account connection removes the tank from the previous account. They will no longer be able to view or control it through the Mixergy app.
Will the tank stop heating water?
No. The tank can continue heating water while the new account is being set up. You can also check and boost the hot water using the gauge.
Does this transfer the warranty?
No. The app account and the tank’s warranty records are separate. See our Warranty Terms and Conditions to learn more about your options.
