Can’t register your tank
What to check if the app won't add your tank to your account.
Registration adds your tank to your Mixergy app account. If the app will not add it, do not create another account or reset the tank straight away.
Registration usually fails because your email address has not been verified, the tank is offline, the wrong code has been entered or the tank is still linked to another account. Work through the checks below in order.
If the app says the tank is already registered, go straight to step 5.
You can still use hot water while you sort out the app. Use the gauge to check how much hot water is ready and ask the tank to heat more.
1. Check that your email address is verified
Open the verification email sent when you created your Mixergy account and select the link inside it. Check your junk or spam folder if you cannot find the email. Then return to the app and sign in. If you have already verified your email address, continue to step 2.
2. Check that the tank is online
Look for the blue connection symbol on the gauge. If it is not lit, connect the tank to the internet before trying registration again.
3. Find the correct code
Use the QR code or device code shown on the outside of the controller. A 1.0 controller has a label with a QR code and a long Mixdevice code. On a 2.0 controller, the information is printed directly on the metal box. Scan its QR code or enter the code marked P/W.
See Find your Mixergy code and controller version if you are unsure which controller or code you have.
IMPORTANT
The six-digit MX number is used for product and warranty records. It is not the code for adding the tank to the app.
4. Scan or enter the code carefully
- Enter the code exactly as printed.
- Check similar characters such as zero and the letter O.
- Remove accidental spaces.
- Scan the QR code where possible.
5. Check whether another account is linked
If the app says the tank is already registered, it is linked to another Mixergy account. This might belong to a previous owner, resident, developer or housing provider.
Do not reset the tank until you know who manages it.
If you rent your home, contact your landlord or housing provider. If you own the home and the previous account should no longer have access, follow Transfer ownership of a Mixergy account.
6. Update and reopen the app
Check for an update in your phone’s app store. Then close the Mixergy app fully, reopen it and sign in using your verified account. Make sure your phone is connected to the internet before trying to add the tank again.
When to ask for help
Contact Mixergy support if the tank is online, the correct code is being used and the app still refuses registration. Share the exact error wording and controller version, but do not send passwords or an unredacted QR code.
Common questions
Why does the app say the tank is already registered?
It means the tank is linked to another Mixergy account. If you rent, contact your landlord or housing provider. If you own the home and the previous account should no longer have access, follow Transfer ownership of a Mixergy account.
What if the verification email has not arrived?
Check your junk or spam folder and make sure you are checking the inbox for the email address used to create the account. If you still cannot verify the account, contact Mixergy support rather than creating another account.
Can I register the tank if I rent my home?
Check with your landlord or housing provider first. They may manage the tank through their own account. Do not reset the tank or remove an existing account connection without their approval.
Can I still use hot water if registration is not working?
Yes. Registration only affects access through the app. Use the gauge to check how much hot water is ready and press the up arrow when you need the tank to heat more.
What information should I provide when asking for help?
Share the exact error message, whether the Wi-Fi symbol on the gauge is blue and whether you have a 1.0 or 2.0 controller. Do not send your password or an unredacted photograph of a QR code.
