Solar PV not heating the cylinder
Rule out the PV system, the clamp and the settings before suspecting the diverter.
Most solar enquiries aren't diverter failures. The diverter can't divert what it can't see, so confirm the PV system is generating, the clamp is reading and the settings window is right before you suspect hardware.
Follow these checks in order
1. Check the PV system is generating
Check the inverter display or generation meter in daylight.
- If it isn't generating, it's a PV array or inverter fault. Refer it to the solar installer. It isn't a Mixergy fault.
- If it is, go to step 2.
2. Check the clamp is reading
Is Clamp Power showing in the app when the house imports or exports?
- If not, check the clamp, cable and interface. See Check the CT clamp and interface.
- If yes, go to step 3.
3. Check the diverter settings
Is the diverter enabled in the app, and is it currently inside the PV Diverter start and end time window?
- If not, adjust the diverter window and settings. See App settings causing unexpected heating.
- If yes, go to step 4.
4. Reset the diverter
Power off at the spur, press the red button or buttons on the underside of the diverter firmly (use a screwdriver if they're stiff), then power back on. Is solar heating restored?
- If yes, the diverter thermostat had tripped. Note the time so support can check it on the servers, and ask the customer to report any repeat trips.
- If not, go to step 5.
5. Check whether the diverter is sending power
Is there clear export at the clamp, but the diverter still sends no power to the immersion?
- If yes, suspect a diverter fault. See PV diverter not working.
- If you're unsure, contact Mixergy support with the MX number. They can check the clamp readings and diverter output on the servers before any parts are ordered.
